Karen's Story
After graduation, attended AVJC, then Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Long Beach State. Finally graduated from Fresno State after only 11 years of college.
In the meantime, I married Gary Smith (class of '60). He joined the Navy and became a Naval Aviator in jets. We llived in Florida, Mississippi, Texas, and back to California. m to become a pilot for McDonnell Douglas, he jumped at the chance and after 25 years, he retired, and so did I.
We moved to Grass Valley, CA, and lived near the airport. In 2005, he was killed in a plane crash. Since then, I've sold nearly everything, had a home built for myself, and moved in March, 2007.
I am active in the local Search and Rescue group, in a support function. Also stay active with the flying association as their treasurer. Great friends here; glad I stayed.
