Karen's Story
Married before out of high school.. Had my daughter Nicole when I was 20 while trying to finish college. Choose to become single mom when she was 18 months old, so left college for a little while to work for Operating Engineers of Western PA helping to building span bridge in Johnstown, PA to make money/support myself. Learned how to opeate things like bulldozers and heavy equipment cranes. Saved enough money to support myself and daughter, quit job with engineers, went back to college to finish last semester of nursing school, graduated as an LPN. Have been a nurse ever since. since 1980's, now hold BSN and I am a Diabetes Educator/Care Manager at this time. (I really wanted to be an actress) . . . . . Moved to Sacramento, CA, in 1985. Just remarried in 2001 to my wonderful husband John, who is the kindest man I have ever met and is my best friend. I waited a long time for him. Have traveled some, althought not as much as I would of liked, plan to do more in future. Travel back to PA since all of my family are still there. Future plans include continuing to grow, learn, live, love, laugh, and to always remember not to take myself or this life to seriously and enjoy the ride along the way.
