Karen's Story
I moved to Gainesville when I graduated with AA from FCJ aka Fruit Juice (as it was called back then.) I moved the Gville and graduated from UF, got married and had a baby and divorced. A few years later, my mom had a stroke and I came back to help Dad take care of her. She died and life for me and my daughter went on. I went back to school and got my M.Ed. at UNF. I've been a high school teacher for the last 15 years and love it. I teach English at St. Aug. High School. I try to be a little more "with it" than poor Ms. Wilson was at Jackson! ied unexpectantly 6 months ago. I'm still going through the grieving process. I guess its just a parent's worst nightmare that one just learns to live with. I fish (mostly on the St. Johns or Julington creek where a great sunset is almost a guarantee), love to garden and walk a lot. Music is also an important part of my life. My daughter turned me on to some great groups such as Coldplay and I turned her on to all the greats we grew up with. I try to be active in the Jax area Coalition for Peace& Justice - "Honor the Warrior, not the war!" Guess not much has changed in that respect. I always was an anti-war, not anti soldier person.
