Karianne's Story
I attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins made some wonderful friends, and earned a BA in English with a Zoology minor.
Following my time at CSU, I pursued my teaching certification. However, during two-year stint as the director of a before and after school care program, I realized that teaching was not my thing and left the program.
Following that, I went to work as a receptionist, then as an administrative assistant, then finally as the marketing coordinator for an engineering firm.
After taking some time off work to enjoy our son, I headed back to work, joining Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.
My husband, Steven, and I were married on May 5th, 2000 at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver. We spent our honeymoon in Grand Cayman, and have been back twice. We live in Broomfield, CO with our son, Roko, who was born in the spring of 2006. We enjoy jogging, taking long walks, watching/playing soccer (okay, Steven likes to play and watch soccer; I like to watch soccer and Roko likes to kick the ball), swimming, snorkeling, visiting with friends and we hit the beach every chance we get.

orite thing next to cars and trains--so maybe he's already caught beach fever, too! He loves to say "beach" loudly in public areas, which, taken out of context and given the fact that he's two years old and new to the talking thing, can be misconstrued as another less-than-savory B word. Lately, my husband and I turn the color of a lobster dinner as Roko proudly hollars "BEACH!" at the most inopportune times--on the playground, at birthday parties, wedding receptions, on the way into the grocery store and anywhere there is excitement (and a ton of people). Akkkkhhhem. We're working hard to learn to say "ocean" instead of "beach". So while for some, life's a beach, for us, it's now an ocean. Perhaps instilling a love for the mountains over the beach would've been less, uhh, stressful?
We just returned from a vacation to Playa del Carmen, where we attended my brother-in-law's wedding. He and his new wife live there full time (and we're sooooo jealous!). Ahhhh, to live on the beach--err, ocean.
We're happy to be home, looking forward to enjoying the rest of our summer, spending time in our backyard and hitting Waterworld at least a few times.
