Karin's Story
Hm, I'm not so sure about all of this social networking stuff, after all we grew up in the dark ages before there were even answering machines, but it is fun to see all these names from the past.
I am still living on Martha's Vineyard. Some of you may remember that my family vacationed here, well I decided to spend a year here to see what it was like, that was in 1980! For over 20 years I worked with my husband Ted in our air charter business, Direct Flight, we have one airplane, he is the pilot and mechanic and has been busy flying the rich and famous and the rich and not-so-famous around for all these years.
A few years ago I got tired of that so I went back to school and got a Certificate in Museum Studies from Tufts. For the past 5 years I have been very happily employed at the Polly Hill Arboretum, a beautiful public garden just around the...Expand for more
corner from my home. I am the Membership, Education, and Outreach Coordinator. It's a great place, and I feel like I have the best job on the Vineyard.
Although living on the island can be, well shall we say insular, it is a beautiful place and everyone seems to wash ashore here sooner or later - Obama stayed a couple of miles away from me. Also I have been fortunate to do lots of traveling over the years and I get to Boston frequently.
I almost never get to Rochester, although my parents are still there - in Fairport now - but they spend over 6 months of the year here so I see them then. They are thinking of moving here full time, which I would like.
Let see, what else, no kids by choice, just lots of cats over the years, a big garden, horseback riding, kayaking, skiing when we can - no snow here but great skating on the ponds.
