Karl's Story
Okay, the Cliff Notes version:
After PVHS in 1974 I headed off to college (Stanford) where I lived in beautiful Lagunita Hall and at DKE on The Row. Majored in Chemistry and Political Science, acted with the drama troupe The Company and reported news for KZSU. Spent summers doing everything from chemical research (Stanford) to radio disc jockey (Washington State) to being a nightshift worker at a prune dehydrator (seriously) in the California Central Valley.
1978 I went to law school at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. Law clerked in Washington DC in the US House of Representatives and in a boutique energy law firm there (which was subsequently swallowed by a mega firm).
Came to Colorado in 1981, the same year I married Frances Draper, who was a Stanford classmate. Have been practicing law in Colorado ever since.
In 1986 we were blessed with a splendid son, also named Karl and in 1991 were equally blessed with delightful daughter, Anne...Expand for more
ka. They are wonderful, capable and exciting young people. I believe they will be good citizens of the planet.
Sadly, Frances and I were divorced in 1998. Happily, we have remained good friends and co-parents.
With less than 100 days left in the millenium, I married my high school sweetheart, Susan Fuller Farnsworth, who brought three more marvelous young people into my life: Sarah, Laura and Jay.
With five young people in various stages of college and high school, we are busy -- sometimes to the point of craziness.
Sue is an interior designer with a firm here in Boulder. I practice law with the law firm of Dietze and Davis. I still have a radio show, on KGNU in Boulder, host a public-access television law program, and will serve as Boulder Bar Association president in 2009-10.
I'm very involved in archaeology, and historic preservation in the American Southwest. I camp, hike and (try to) run regularly. And, not uncharacteristically, I am out of time.
