Karla's Story
Howdy! I moved to Austin in 1990 right after HS and have been here virtually ever since. Took a short 2 year detour to another town but ended up back here. Went to UT for a year and St. Edward's at night. I worked in the IT industry for several years then about 10 years ago ventured into the AV (Audio Visual industry). I got married in 2003 to a great guy who loves the Cowboys, the Longhorns and BBQ. He brought four great step-sons into my family. In 2004 I partnered with two other fantastic people to form Onsite AV Service Partners a successful professional audio visual corporation. In 2006 I had my super-fantastic son (love of my life)! It's the beginning of 2010 as I write this and I'm still busy running Onsite AV, being a mom and step-mom, and teaching religious education in my spare evenings.
I remember HS as a fun time but was very ready to get out and explore the "real world". Couldn't wait back then to leave the small town. I had several great friends in HS, a few I still keep tabs on and several other people that were fun to hang aro...Expand for more
und with in softball and band and just out around the "pavillion". I remember listening to a lot of hard rock and being grounded a lot of my HS years!
I still like to occasionally listen to RR but typically I'm all over the map from Country to Yanni. I played softball for a lot of years but finally decided it's too rough for me nowadays. I'm really a big sports fan (football in particular) - have to be with 5 boys in the family! So I spend many nights at practices and games cheering. I thought I'd grow up to be a teacher but fate took me another way in my career. Thus I take delight in teaching religious education to little ones in the evenings. Gives me that joy I knew I would find in a teaching career.
I love to cook, read when I can, and enjoy many PC games. We live outside of Austin in a small town - country atmosphere where everyone is friendly and each time you go to the grocery you run into several people you know. So, I guess in a way I've come back to my roots, the small town atmosphere, not planning to run out this time :).
