April's Story
After graduation I attended Mt San Antonio Jr College. I started in Pre-vet but quickly learned I didn't like the sciences. I switched to Ranch Management. I graduated from Mt SAC and went on to Fresno State College. There, I majored in Agricultural Business. I met my future husband, Johnny. At the time he was an insurance investigator. We were married in May 1969. He had been in the military and wanted to go back. He did and I quit college and followed him to several duty stations including Ft Ord, CA, Ft Huachuca, AZ, Alexandria, VA (we both worked at the Pentagon), and Germany. We ended up at Ft Huachuca and have been here ever since (2021). Our son was born in 1972. Johnny had a daughter from a previous marriage. They both live within a few miles of me. Sean has a son and four steps and one grandson. April has a son and daughter and two grandchildren. Love all my family. I worked for the Department of the Army ...Expand for more
and retired in 2002 with a nice 31-year retirement. We moved in 1987, to 4 acres in the country and I had my horses for a number of years. My husband passed away in 2015. I sold my last horse in 2016 and moved to "town." I live in a retirement community and can see my Huachuca Mountains right out my kitchen window. God put me here and I'm so glad He did. I bought a travel trailer in 2017. I had pulled horse trailers and figured I could handle a 22-foot trailer. I had a lot to learn. LOL. My first trip was to Washington state via CA and OR. On the way back I drove through ID and UT. It was me and my chocolate Lab. My next trip was to Silverton, CO. My step-daughter, April and I traveled to her daughter's place in Middletown, CA in 2019. No trips in 2020. I hope to go across country and visit several friends and some family along the way. We will see what the Lord has to say about that. Life is good in southeast AZ.
