Kas White:

CLASS OF 1977
Mesa, AZ

Kas's Story

Life married: Dennis White of Tempe, Arizona February 1988. Not only is Dennis a native of Arizona, but his dad is also a native Arizonan. We met when I went to buy myself a birthday present. I always bought myself the gift I really wanted and didn't receive. Dennis is an Audio / Video specialist and I went into his place of work to purchase a new stereo system and TV. We started dating immediately thereafter and haven't been apart since. children: 0. Since I was 28, and Dennis 33, we wanted to make sure we really enjoyed being together since I had been married very briefly at 19. Before bringing any children into the world, we thought we'd just enjoy being together and have some fun. We're still playing. pets: 0. I had a drafting teacher at MCC give me a cat when Dennis & I were just newlyweds in August of 1988. Tiger lived until Good Friday of this year. She is sorely missed. We haven't replaced her. parents: John & Nita Webb. Still living and healthy. Part time in Eagle, Idaho and part time in Mesa,Arizona. sister: Susie Webb Freitas. Late bloomer mother at 42. Adopted another at 44. Her daughters are Mikayla,6 and Ashlyn,4. She has a wonderful and patient husband named Ed Freitas. She has too many pets to remember. School Coming from all private schools before Westwood High, I was fascinated by everything. Hall decorations and the talented artists who created them are my fondest memories. When Ray Burnell helped create the fantasy land that adorned our hall, I was so blown away that any one person could have that amount of talent. There were others similarly talented contributing, but Ray stood out most for me. The floats that our class designed & built were Award Winning. I provided only grunt labor because my artistic skills did not approach the level of skills from my classmates. My biggest crush:It was a drummer.(You know who you are) My best prom date ever:No question. Jeff Engle. My WORST prom date ever: Scott, you know who you are. ...Expand for more
My most frustrating: Not only would I forget my locker combination, sometimes I couldn't even remenber which was my locker. My most fun dance ever: Wendy Terrell invited me to an Ebony Club dance. My favorite teacher: Coach Townsend. He endured teaching us health class for 1 semester, and we begged school permission for him to teach us for a 2nd semester. Iloved the rivalry between Mesa "Low" and Westwood. During the week before the game, we took it to levels beyond imagination. My craziest memory: My dad bought my sister and I, an Austin American A40. It was a tiny car that had push up bars on the windows to raise & lower them, so there was no way to lock the car. "Friends", (you know who you are), would pick the car up and carry it somewhere & hide it. We never knew where it would be next. We would come out after class & go on a scavenger hunt to find our car so we could go home. College I finished all my required courses at Westwood in my junior year so I went to Mesa Community College my Senior year of high school while taking Free Enterprise at Westwood at 7AM in the morning to prevent them from graduating me. 1976 was my sister's senior year, and it seemed down right suicidal to steal her thunder and graduate with her. I went to ASU after that and Majored in Mechanical Engineering. In 1988 and 1990 I went for educational updates at MCC in computer and drafting. I have no need for a masters degree in my field, so I could take advantage of the curriculum at the smaller college. My field of specialty requires continuous education, so I attend seminars regularly, the most recent seminar being August 13th 2007. Military No military experience at all. I was married very briefly to an officer in the United States Air Force. I realized very quickly, the difference between a military family as his was,(his father was a retired Chief Master Sargeant in the U.S. AirForce) and my immediate family who had no military experience beyond the ROTC.
