Katherine's Story
Life
My life has been rather low-key over the last many years. I have lived many places (CA, IN, TX), most recently in Austin, but am getting ready to make my final move to a beautiful and historic town in eastern Missouri, right along the Mississippi. One of my favorite books/mini-series is Centennial, which focuses on the fir traders going up and down the Mississippi River...my new home will be one of the first places the fir traders stopped in those early days - which makes it even more interesting and exciting. The house I purchased is from 1880 and is located in the historic district...it needs a little bit of fixing up, but for its age, remarkably very little. I purchased the property next door to the house and demolished an old eye-sore to give myself a great sized city lot for my dogs and me to enjoy for the rest of our lives. I do have three dogs (lab, collie and wolf or fox-mix - no one is quite sure) and four cats (all tabbies of various colors) and they all love the house, so once I sell my home in Austin, I will permanently relocate to Missouri - it will be most exciting to not drive back and forth all the time. The great thing is that the town is just an hour or so outside of St. Louis so I won't be far from entertainment and culture, which I am certain I will crave from time to time, living in a town of just over 4000 people. r a cutting-edge semiconductor simulation software company in North Austin where I basically have learned a lot about being on the other side of the venture capital world and the nailbitting that overwhelms the day to day during fund raising. It has been wonderful working for one the nations top VC firms and then switching gears and going to the l"ittle guy" looking for money - it provides you a lot of practical business lessons and experiences, let me tell you. I love my job and the people I work with and for - I will hate to go when the time comes.
I have traveled extensively over the last few years with my little sister, Elizabeth. We have gone to Hawaii (not very exciting, but someplace new for me), Ireland (all over the country - except Northern), Paris and London. We are currently working on figuring out where to go for our next trip, it will either be Germany or Italy...we are having a hard time agreeing on what to do this year. For those of you who remember, my sister was two years younger, we were always inseparable at school, and still are - she lives in New Jersey, but we still see each other often, so it doesn't fell like she is very far away. Aside from all of that, like I said, life has been very low-key, no great loves or relationships to report, just a lot of little changes and experiences, but for the most part everything has been pretty good.
