Katherine's Story
After graduating from high school, I attended Chico State for two years. My grades, although decent, definitely reflected that I was not all that interested in the field of Business, which was then my major. For the next three years, I lived back with my parents and attended San Jose State, majoring in computer science.
While I attended SJ State, I worked part-time at a small computer game company named Strategic Simulations. After a couple of years as an administrative assistant, I began working as a software engineer and stayed there for over six years. I met my husband, Scot, at SSI in 1989 and we were married in 1991.
As a result of a lay-off, I left SSI and went to work at Sega of America, where I worked until 1993. At that time, my husband and I decided to move to Bend, Oregon and work for a small game development company named Eidetic. (They are now owned by Sony.) We both worked there for approximately two years before we had our first child. After having Tyler, I decided to be a stay-at-home mom.

mily (Ryan and Theresa) and moved around A LOT as Scot worked his way up the corporate ladder. We've called Oregon, Washington, California, Illinois, and Nevada 'home' at one time or another. In early 2011, my husband and I punched out of the Bay Area and moved back to Bend, Oregon and its slower paced, more relaxed lifestyle to raise our three kids.
In late 2010, just prior to our move back to Bend, I independently published my first urban fantasy novel, Deadly Remains, without any expectations (and if I'm honest, not much of a clue) and was shocked when it reached a receptive audience, yielding a host of positive reviews and an encouraging amount of success. Since then I've released two more books and am just finishing my fourth. These days, I spend my free time living inside my head and writing my characters into impossible situations that only magic and moxie can resolve. If happy endings are in short supply, it might be because my books are hogging them. Now, if I could just figure out how to magically clean my boys' bathroom, life would be perfect.
