Katherine's Story
Life
Where to begin? I have been married for 31 years. I met my husband at U of T (Victoria College) from which our daughter graduated in 2008.
I attended teacher's college in Fredericton New Brunswick and taught there for 2 years. A return to Ontario was followed by my wedding and a life living in Northern Ontario for a number of years, teaching all grades from kindergarten to grade 8.
In 1997, my husband secured a job in Kyiv Ukraine working as executive director for an international organization (STCU). We moved there for 4 1/2 years where I enjoyed teaching kindergarten at an international school. Our daughter attended the same school for grades 7, 8, 9, 10.
In 2002, we returned to Sudbury to "pick up where we had left off".
Our daughter finished high school and began university at Victoria College (U of T). I taught and my husband, Leo, returned to his job with Northern Development and Mines....Expand for more
After two and a half years, we were getting "itchy feet" again and my husband applied for a job in Moscow Russia with a "sister centre" to the one he had headed in Ukraine. We have been in Moscow since 2005.
I am able to return to Canada 2 or 3 times a year. We sold our Sudbury house and now make Bolton our home
base. Convenient to the airport and Toronto.
We bought a property in the Dominican Republic in 209 as a holiday home and future retirement place.
*Update: My husband has just extended his contract so we will be in Moscow at least until the end of summer 2011.
Update #2: We bought a house in the Dominican Repubic in January 2009. Spent our first Christmas/New Year's there hosting my husband's family!
I think of my Mayfield days whenever I am back in Bolton and drive past the school on the way to Bramalea or Brampton. Many fond memories. Fun times. Great people. Some amazing friendships.
