Katherine's Story

College Regis College was a wonderful place to go to school. The only bad part about the school had to do with the high number of lesbian students! I could not believe that so many lesbians would have the nerve to go to a Catholic institution and actually make out in the parking lots of a place where nuns live! Other than that, the teachers were awesome, the classes were terrific in religious studies, boring, but necessary in order to complete a degree in nursing, and really fun in every other way. The social and psychology courses were very interesting. I learned a great deal in the chemistry classes. But, the single most best thing about Regis College has to be the library. The resource librarians are there for the students for everything. IF you don't know how to find something, they will help you. If you need something from across the country, Regis pays for the article, etc. I thought the librarians were awesome! They helped me get through school! Workplace My career in nursing has grown tremendously. I started off working in a doctor's office after graduating with an associates from Mass Bay. Then, while going to school full time at Regis and working full time and doing the National Guard part time, I got married and had two more children. I did some auditting of physician offices with Traveler's Insurance, worked for a diet doctor, did some visiting nursing and some rehab nursing. After completing my bachelor's degree, I moved to Indiana to do Parish Nursing and Med-surg nursing at a major city hospital. Now, I am at that same hospital, but working as charge nurse on a progressi...Expand for more
ve care unit (step down from ICU). Two years ago, I became ACLS certified, that is a huge deal to me! My plans are to move back to MA in the next six months, persue a Master's Degree as a Nurse Practioner, and then head in that direction. 10 years of being a nurse are rewarding, but have caused too many back injuries to be able to continue at this pace. That is all folks. Katherine Military I joined the Army National Guard when I was 17 years old. I went to basic right after highschool, at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. Advanced training was at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio Texas. That is where I met and married my first husband. After nearly two years of being in the Guard, I joined the Army. I had to do advanced training at Ft. Lee, Virginia 1997-1988. I had orders for Germany, but became pregant with our first child, so I was sent to Hunter Army Airfield in GA. I got orders for Korea a year later after the baby was born, but, I got pregnant again and ended up staying in GA. While pregnant, the army sent down new Korea orders to send me to Korea one month after my baby was born. I was not getting pregnant again that fast! So, I opted to get out of the Army. I missed it so much, that two weeks after I had the baby, I re-enlisted in the Army National Guard. I stayed in the National Guard in Massachusetts until transfering to Indiana in 1998. From 1998 until 2000, I was in the Indiana Guard. Finally, I decided I had had enough after a man in my unit died after an indian run. I did CPR on the guy, and he made it to the hospital, but died three days later. That is my story and I'm sticking to it.
