Katherine Evans Sep 08 2009 | General Yikes! Hi there! I can't believe I finally opened this up! WOW!It's great to see your faces and read some of your stories. Mine is way too long!!! I live in Laguna Beach now, staging a home(furnishing it in exchange for rent temporarily) and loving it. Summer has been a blast here! I've been living and working in Newport for the past 7 years, love being near the Pacific! I have a son, Travis, 22 and a daughter, Alex, 18 who live with their dad now in Hawaii. So, this is my first year without them! It's amazing how much you miss your kids after they move and are so far away. I will try to send photos. I've been in the sales profession most of my life. Initially, worked for Pac Bell for 8 years (operator then, linewoman) and bought my first home in Irvine, in 80's sold high-tech chips, bought my second home there too. My first and only marriage at 35 to Bruce Evans in a park in Avalon, Catalina (where I've spent most summers at my grandma's family beach cottage). I had our son, Travis in N.B., moved to Balboa Island from Corona del Mar. Moved to Hawaii in 1990 and had our daughter, Alexandria in Kealakekua, just south of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island. We moved there and didn't know anyone! My husband and I shipped our 36' Innovator there to start a sportfishing business. I sold advertising in three publications on the island, two in major hotel rooms by Guest Informant and the last was the National Car Rental drive guide. This was the best way to get to know everyone on the island! I called on restaurants, stores, galleries and activity businesses to sell them ads. Later, I sold custom eco-tours; a 10 hour Kilaveuea Volcano Tour, Mauna Kea Summit tour,(so lucky to have Hale Bopp comet during that time so a custom tour to view the comet!), custom Kona Coffee tour, a cave tour to v...Expand for more
