Wow, where has the time gone? Hard to believe that the past 34 years have gone by so quickly! I have lots of great memories of growing up in Oakland. I wouldn't trade those for anything. There is something special about growing up in a town where just about everyone knows who you are. The county fair was something you always looked forward to. Everyone always went. I used to get so mad at my parents when they would stop to talk with friends they hadn't seen in a long time. I couldn't wait to go on the rides. We used to take our kids to the Burt County Fair every year. Funny thing - they used to pull and tug on us because we stopped to visit with an old friend or classmate! So what have I been up to? After graduating from college in 1977, I got married and taught 1st grade in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. My husband, Bruce and I, lived there for 9 years before moving to Elkhorn, Nebraska. Our son John and daughter Emily were both born while we lived in Plattsmouth. I have been teaching 3rd grade in Elkhorn since 1987.
