Katheryn's Story

The Game of Life: Grew up in Randolph Hills on Ashley Drive. Tried to ride a scateboard as well as Mike Cordray who lived across the street. Went to Rockinghorse Elementary, Randolph Junior High and Wheaton. I don't remember a lot of people, and, oddly enough, have not ever run in to anyone even though I was in the area for a long time. Scrolling through the names of people who were in my homeroom, there are some names that I recognize but high school memories remain a total fog...wow and I never used drugs or drank much. Must have slept my way through most of it. I loved hanging around the drug store soda fountain and, yes I admit, the pool hall. My very first job was at Burger Chef on Rockville Pike...wow...who remembers Burger Chef??? The next year I moved up a level to "Bobs Big Boy"; that was making it big time. Really did love those hot fudge cakes...never found one as good anywhere else. It seems that life has flown by. Did well in my career (real estate) and now just work part-time at the Ocean City Airport for fun since the market tanked. Didn't finish 12th grade at school, had enough credits to get out early, just had to take English. My best friends were Elaine Dellasanta and Debby Dodson in school. I remember we were called the "three musketeers". I guess not being there that last year is why I don't really remember many people. I do remeber one incident where I made fun of a picture that was hung on the wall at Randolph Junior High. The picture was done by Pat...Expand for more
Downs and she found out I made fun of her picture. I spent the rest of the year trying to dodge her as she told everyone she was going to kick my butt. Funny how something so trivial made such an impact that I remember it so many years later. I went to college off and on through the years in between working and taking care of a family. Got married to a guy from Richard Montgomery last year of high school. Stayed in the marriage long enough to have two kids and ditched. We were just too young and too different. Remarried and June 21 will be our 30th anniversary! Lived in Montgomery County for 25 years then moved to the beach when our last child, a son graduated from college and stayed in the Philly area where he went to school. We love it here and don't miss the traffic around the D.C. area! Of course we have the summer traffic, but the rest of the year it is very slow, peaceful and quiet. I am a lover of animals, but, especially dogs. We have 3, a very bossy Maltese, a Garfield personality, Shiz Tsu, and a very smart, sweet black lab who was a rescue. I have a great life, my husband and I are in good health and we are very blessed. We like cruising when we can get away, however, it's tough and very expensive to leave 3 dogs! It would be fun to find out that there are other "Wheatonites" who ended up in the Ocean City area! It would be great if more old classmates added a bio and some pictures. It's interesting to see the different avenues we all took once grown up.
