Kathleen's Story
Life
Update....October 2007...So we have been in the Hartford area for over 1 year now. It is really pretty and the weather reminds me a lot of Western New York. The family is all doing well and into their daily routines. Hope everyone is doing good and I'm hoping on catching up with everyone at the next reunion...!
Big Hugs,
Kathy
September 2006...Well, Charlotte, NC was not in the cards for us. We will be moving to the Hartford, Connecticut area in a couple of weeks. BRRRRR!!! It was a lot of fun out here in California, but it will be nice to get back to the East Coast. My parents have both passed away, but Tom's family will only be 3 hours away, so it will be nice to be close to family. Can't wait to see everyone!
Big Hugs,
Kathy (Barlow) Wolkner
Things couldn't be better! I'm currently living in Southern California (not missing the cold and snow at all) with my great husband and 5 kids. We will be moving to Charlotte, North Carolina sometime in the near future. After high school I went on to college at SUNY College at Buffalo and did an internship at Walt Disney World. I also attended school in Illinois at Illinois State University and Governors State University. So far I have lived in Orlando, FL (and you thought Niagara Falls had a bunch of tourists!!), Bloomington, IL (can you say "corn"?), Chicago, IL (cold AND windy), Raleigh, NC (l...Expand for more
ike NY, but in the south-it's all transplants!), San Marino, CA (it really is sunny all the time!) and soon to be Charlotte, NC. I am currently a Stay-At-Home mom, but the jobs I've had over the years have been interesting. I sold souvenirs at Walt Disney World, then I was a waitress to work my way through college. I think this job should be a requirement for everyone! I was then an assistant to a Private Investigator (I actually got shot at!!! He missed.) I was a Director of a Day Care Center, then I went to work in an office and made more money with fewer hours! My last job before becoming a full time mom was working on a construction site supervising subcontractors and writing up contracts. I've been at home since 1999 with my 2nd child (had my 1st in 1992), then we had twins in 2001, and just had a baby October of 2005. We are now done. We love to do things with our family. Our house is always busy and we love it that way. I think my biggest accomplishment was helping our twin boys overcome Autism. At 19 months they were given a pretty grim diagnosis, but today they appear to be "normal" preschoolers. It took years of therapies and treatments, but the twins have come so far! We are very optimistic about their future.
I really hope that everyone is doing well, and I can't wait until the next reunion to see everyone!!!
Big Hugs!
Kathy
