Kathleen's Story
Life
Well, here I go. I married Dennis Taylor(class of 56) when I was a senior at West.We have three children and three grandchildren. We moved from Denver to Riverside,Ca. in 1962 where we lived until 1987. Then we moved to Santa Cruz, Ca where we lived until 2001. We then moved to Dennis's home town of White Cloud.Ks.
Over the years, Dennis worked as an electrician and I raised the kids and went to school. I eventually earned a Doctorate in Psychology. I worked along the way as a teacher, I taught college for a while, but spent most of my career working for County Mental Health. Initially as a counselor, then I tried my hand at administration, but learned that it takes a Machiavellian soul to like that job. So I resumed practice as a Psychologist for the County of Santa Cruz doing mental health evaluations for the Court and training interns. ealth staffers. Even though I enjoyed my work,I decided to retired in 2001 so that I could spend more time with my grandkids, before they grow up, and so we could have some fun before we are too old.
Our children and grandchildren have grown to be fine people. Our two daughters are working and raising their kids, our son, lives with us as he is disabled from a head injury 20 years ago. Fortunately, he is a kind and patient person with a great sense of humor.
For those of you who remember my parents; My father, Cleo died in 1977 and my mother Margie died in 1999. My brother Robert Bassford lives in Las Vegas.He had two sons. One died in 1998.
Life in Kansas is simple and quiet. (it could be boring, but I work at it)Much family here so when Dennis and I go to the great nothingness our son will have someone who knows who he is.
