Life - May 2005
It's time to sail into the sunrise on our 41' sailboat. In May my husband and I will head out the Erie Canal, down the Hudson, and to the Chesapeake for the summer. After that we're heading to the islands, most of them except Cuba. No agenda, just relaxing, and sailing as long as we enjoy it.
I have a daughter and a son, and three granddaughters (my daughter's kids), and now greatgrandchild number 2 on the way. The other set of grandparents is traveling the USA in an RV so they had two sets of nomads for grandparents.
---It's mid-July, and we are finally in the Chesapeake Bay! So far the trip down the east coast of the Atlantic Ocean has been interesting...hot, hazy and humid everywhere, not just in Buffalo.
December, 2006, finds us in Grenada after spending five and a half months in Trinidad and Tobago. Over the past year we have been to the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Puer...Expand for more
to Rico, the USVI and BVI, and the Leeward and Windward Islands. We'll spend the winter months sailing north as far as Gaudeloupe to revisit those places we hurried past in June before returning to Trinidad for the next hurricane season.
Workplace
After spending ten years as a school librarian, I owned a bookstore with my first husband. In 1981 I started working as the text manager at the Daemen College Bookstore. I became the manager in 1992, the position I am retiring from on April 1, 2005.
January 2009
Here I sit in the cockpit on the Internet in Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou. This is part of Grenada and our favorite island. We spend lots of time here. Who wouldn't when the temps are 70-85 degrees, nice breeze and sunny days. We also do some volunteer work at the elementary school and with the kids' Optimist sailing club. Right now it's the "dry" season so showers are scattered and short. We're planning a visit home to the States this summer for my husband's 50th high school reunion in Vermont and to spend time with the kids and grandkids. Because it is such a major expense we won't get out to Colorado to see my son, but we'll visit with family and friends from Vermont to Indiana. I'll be thinking of the Class of '64 on the Caribbean cruise in a couple of weeks. My Caribbean cruise has been ongoing for three years!
