Kathleen's Story
From my elementary school years up through the present, I love music, plays, drama, musicals, band, singing, choirs. I was involved in church & school choirs. I participated in drama class & clubs, I participated in musicals. I loved Band! I learned to play flute, French horn (at John Muir I played both flute & French horn) saxophone (at Hoover I played Baritone Sax). I also could play the Bugle, the Recorder & took piano lessons. I play guitar, the Irish tin whistle, still play the recorder, and my flute that I've had since junior high. I love learning new instruments, so I'm learning the Bodhran (an Irish hand drum), the Djembe, and a few unique woodwind/flute type instruments. I am a singer/songwriter.. I often sing for special events including weddings, dedications, funerals, workshops/conferences/retreats and church gatherings.
I went to Shasta College for an AA in Early Childhood Ed and Gen. Ed. Worked in preschools & daycares for awhile. I became a missionary for short-term outreach trips both in poor urban slums in the US, on Indian Reservations, in Orphanages, and remote villages in Mexico along with big city slums.
I've worked at a variety of jobs in my 20's. Gained tons of life experiences. Eventually I settled into working for the Crisis Pregnancy Center (CPC) in Redding, California (later renamed CareNet Pregnancy Center & Medical Clinic).
During my time working at CPC, I returned to school and received my BA in Business Human Resource Management from Simpson University.
Went on a medical leave of absence and eventually moved into a "career change"... Life is a journey and as each season and year turns, I find change is always just around the corner. After my medical leave and recovery, I became an independent business consultant & web designer,
I’m a motivational & inspirational public speaker. I have had numerous speaking engagements (workshops, seminars, conferences, etc) both small and large.
I also went back to a vocational school and turned my hobby of dog training into a prof...Expand for more
essional occupation as a certified professional dog trainer. I own K9 Kelts Dog Training. My dogs and I have been involved in, received Titles, participated in or taught classes in the following dog sports/activities: Obedience, Agility, Rally Obedience, Flyball, Canine Musical Freestyle, Trick Dog, Tracking, AKC's Canine Good Citizen programs & AKc's Farm Dog Testing. I've had numerous dogs.
I have an older roommate/friend who I co-own a home with and am her live-in caregiver and she has 2 Havana Brown Cats.
I rededicated my life to Christ in the middle of my senior year of high school. I attended Little Country Church (a Calvary Chapel) for many years. At some point, I began a spiritual & historical journey of trying to find the closest representation of the historical Christianity. I explored and studied almost every Christian denomination, the Catholic Church, the ancient Celtic Church and others. I stumbled upon, in my journeys, Eastern Christian Orthodox. For me, this was my answer & I found my spiritual home. There is no such thing as a "perfect church". Because all are full of imperfect people, I being one of the worst. However, it is a source of truth, purpose, peace & joy for me to be in communion with my Creator God.
I still love the mysticism that the Celtic Christians had in their world view. I also see that in the ancient fathers & mothers of the Eastern Orthodox Christians. Some things are just left to mystery, to ponder & to sit in wondrous awe.
The created world around us, the beauty of nature, the uniqueness of each individual human being, keeps me humble, spurs me to care, compassion & love; to find completeness & wholeness, to be one with God, in harmony with nature & to love the image of God in all people.
Okay.., enough of my meanderings! I love: to go boating, house boating, fishing, nature, camping, Christian music, reading, playing board games & cards. I love being with my family and friends. I enjoy my life. I still have goals to reach and a journey to continue walking!
