Kathleen Teas:

CLASS OF 1968
Wenatchee, WA

Kathleen's Story

I married to Tom Teas in 1971. We have two daughters. The oldest is a research librarian in Vancouver, WA and the youngest is a receptionist at a veterinarian hospital in Seattle. Neither have married and we have no grandchildren but we do have granddogs! In August of 2008 Tom was killed in an auto accident on his way to Wenatchee. The driver responsible was abusing meds for back pain. He will now have to live with the fact that his disregard for others resulted in a death. I still live in Oroville beside the Similkameen River with a small alfalfa field that is farmed out. My brother in law died suddenly in March and that leaves his wife and I both relying on someone else to take care of our alfalfa fields. It has been a difficult full of changes year. I am still involved with the Lutheran church and also am an officer in the Thrivent Chapter for Okanogan County. I took over paying bills for two of Tom's orchard clients and helped to find accountants to do the rest and also to handle payroll and taxes for the two I have. My sister-in-law and I hosted the annual Teas reunion in August but with far fewer attendees tha...Expand for more
n ever before. Next year we include my family and hers and get all our reunions over at one time! Should be lots of fun. My daughters and I made our remembering Tom trip to Ireland in June where we rented a car and spent two weeks seeing the country and searching for Griffin names (it is like Smith and Jones over there). Had a ball and will travel together again in the future. I have my faithful year old dog to keep me company - he weighs 85 pounds so isn't a lap dog but does travel well to the coast to visit the girls. My mother lives in an apartment on the back of my home that Tom built for her and is still able to drive herself to Wenatchee and back for visits. It is a good life in the small communities where you know most everyone and when there is a need everyone helps out. No plans to move anyplace else even though the 5-9 hours to visit either daughter gets old fast. My health is excellent and I have plenty to do right here. Still enjoy reading and have taken up making jewelry for myself and crochet baby afghans for all the nieces and nephews that are adding to the family. Keeps me busy with the large yard.
