Kathleen's Story
After high school, I attended Highline College for a while before I met my husband "to-be" at my place of employment. We married in 1969 and have two children, Kirsten (born in '71) and Garrett (born in '73). We stayed in the Seattle area until 1987 when job changes forced a move to Idaho. Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect! In 1987 Rick's employer closed and he became a long haul trucker. We moved from Seattle to Middleton, Idaho due to this job change. In '92 we bought a small "ranch" in Parma, ID and have remained here since.
In 1980 I became interested in the sport of pure-bred dogs and have followed that course since. We breed and exhibit Pembroke Welsh Corgis. We have bred and exhibited 4 consecutive dogs in 3 consecutive generations of top ranked Pembrokes and Castell Pembroke Welsh Corgis are known the world over. We have placed our dogs in many countries around the world.
In 1985 I began handling show dogs professionally and travelled all over the US on a regular basis and various countries occasionally. I have attended the Westminster Kennel Club show in New York many times and won mult...Expand for more
iple awards there. Our dogs have also qualified every year for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship show in FL, winning Best of Opposite to the Best of Breed in January 2006.
In 1997 the light of our life was born, our Grandson, Camden. What a treasure! He lived here with us until he was 2 1/2, then moved back to Seattle with his mom and lived with my parents for a while. He moved back to the farm in 2010 and graduated from Parma High School Since Camden was 7 he has been an outstanding hockey player. In 2015 he played with the Eugene Generals Junior Team.
In 2003 I traveled to Ibaraki, Japan and handled my daughters champion female to Best of Breed female over 108 Pembrokes at the Asia International show, the biggest show of it's kind in all of Asia. It was a very exciting trip. In 2005, I returned to Ibaraki with my daughter and Camden. What an experience for them!
In 2001 Rick was hurt on the job and has been home since. . I have retired from Dog Show Handling but do still show my own dogs from time to time.
Would love to hear from some of the old "chums"! (Still have horses, too!) castellatfrontiernet.net
