Kathleen's Story
After high school, I attended the U of O for two years then finished at PSU, with a BS in Biology. I then attended the U of O Medical School to obtain certification in Medical Technology (MT ASCP) . After working for 15 years as a Medical Technologist, I was burned out and decided to become a high school Biology teacher.
I attended Linfield to pick up the education courses I lacked and did my student teaching. I worked in Rainier, OR at the high school teaching Biology, Physical Science, Medical Biology, Leadership class, and Yearbook during my eight years there. I loved teaching! I was awarded the Teacher of the Year for District 1, Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Columbia, and Clatsop counties in 1990. That was a very pleasant surprise.
I moved to Pennsylvania in 1993, and taught all the science in a Christian high school. Then I moved to Illinois in September 2001, and taught there in a Christian high school, then back to Pennsylvania in 2003 to teach in a ...Expand for more
different Christian school. I then moved back to Oregon to teach in Oregon City at a Christian School. I retired in 2014, after 30 years of loving it. I think being with teenagers keeps you young. I adopted my students into my heart each year..
I am now pursuing a career as an artist. I sell my paintings in the Three Rivers Artist Gallery in Oregon City. I take classes and plan to teach classes in the future. I belong to the Three Rivers Artist Guild. While in PA, I sold paintings in the Latrobe Gallery and Greensburg Gallery. Art has always been a love of mine and something I had time for only in the summers.
I am not married now, but have three children, two in Oregon City and one in Pennsylvania. I have five grandchildren, three in Oregon and two in Pennsylvania, that I teach painting and science on a casual basis.
I have lost touch with all of my classmates from Marshall. This fact grieves me. I welcome communication from any who want to email me.
