Kathleen Mitchell:  

After high school, I attended the U of O for two years then finished at PSU, with a BS in Biology. I then attended the U of O Medical School to obtain certification in Medical Technology (MT ASCP) . After working for 15 years as a Medical Technologist, I was burned out and decided to become a high school Biology teacher. I attended Linfield to pick up the education courses I lacked and did my student teaching. I worked in Rainier, OR at the high school teaching Biology, Physical Science, Medical Biology, Leadership class, and Yearbook during my eight years there. I loved teaching! I was awarded the Teacher of the Year for District 1, Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Columbia, and Clatsop counties in 1990. That was a very pleasant surprise. I moved to Pennsylvania in 1993, and taught all the science in a Christian high school.
