Kathleen's Story
I am still trying to figure out why, after living in New Orleans for 26 years with very little hurricane trouble (we moved and sold the house before Katrina hit) I come back to Long Island and 9 years later Sandy visits. Tree through the roof, 2nd tree takes all the power/cable/phone lines off the house, 3rd tree pushes 2nd tree into the garage so we can't get the generator out without a fight (we did win that one) and multiple tree pieces tur...Expand for more
ned the backyard fence into Swiss cheese. 12 days before the lights come back on. 15 days before cable & phone are re-connected. Cosmic irony? The Goddess may be amused but I am not!
But I have to admit we didn't have much to complain about when I read stories from all over the Island about the damages some towns sustained. We were very lucky. Hope everyone else is safe and recovering - it will take awhile before this is all cleaned up.
