Kathryn's Story
After graduation I worked at the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark. I left a great position as payroll coordinator because of the riots in Newark and it being dangerous walking to the train station after work. I worked as a Senior Payroll Clerk for the National State Bank Computer Center in Linden til 1971. I married in 1971 and had two beautiful children John and Kathy.
My husband, John, Sr. passed away in August 1998 after a long illness and my son John, Jr. passed away in August 2008. I miss them both so much my heart aches. I know they are both at peace in God's Kingdom.
My daugher, Kathy, is married. She and her husband Derek have three beautiful children, Jacob, 12, Grace 9 and Brady 7. Kathy is a Special Education teacher. Jacob on December 3, 2011 earned his black belt in karate. Kathy is also studiing Karate and has a green belt. I am very proud of them.
In April 2013, my daughter Kathy, came close to death when she had 99% of the widow makers artery blocked and suffered 2 heart attacks. Her medical problems all have to do with here genes. Unfortunately she suffers from my mother's heart disease and her father's blood disease. She now is doing well but must watch her health carefully. ease at Centra State Hospital in Freehold. I am very proud of her for taking her health problems and trying to educate young people to be aware of their genetics and take are of their health. The month before her heart attacks Kathy won a trophy in Karate. She did all the right things in life to keep healthy but her bad genes caused her attacks.
On February 1st 2012, I retired after 25 year as an Administrative Assistant for the Carteret Board of Education.
I minister as a cantor, leader of song and choir member in my church. I am a Past President of the Servants of Mary,a member of the Columbietts with Council #6203 Knights of Columbus in South Plainfield and a Past Regent for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Fidelis 636.
I ministered as a bereavement counselor for St. Joseph's Church in Carteret for 11 years. It is probably not the best ministry to be in but I feel good knowing I am helping people find hope when they are feeling hopeless during their grieving.
Forest Gump's mom said "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you will get". Isn't that the truth?
I got remarried August 10, 2013 to Richard Skrocki. Richard and I are very happy that we have each other to share the rest of our lives with. God is good.
