Kathryn's Story
Life
After HS, moved to Louisiana and went to what is now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. After completing BS, didn't know what to do, so stayed for MS.
After that (1989), I got job at Corpus Christi State University which became Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Sometimes I really miss that university environment.
My banner year was in 1993 when I had my daughter, Tabitha. It wasn't in my life plan back in high school to be a single mother, but I find it suits me in many ways. I don't know if...Expand for more
I'll ever get married, but I've always wanted to be a mom. She inspires me. I have also learned about myself from her.
I took a job as a software tester in 1997, bringing me back to the Houston area.
In 1998, Mom died. This is still a big heartbreak for me. (Aside: I know mammograms are not fun, but if you're female, get them. Have your mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters get theirs, even if there is no family history of breast cancer. )
Jobs change, the kiddo grows, but otherwise much remains the same.
