Kathryn's Story
Life
My jobs have included providing herring and squid to Stellar sea lions and wicker furniture and pearl necklaces to the rich and famous of the Hamptons. While pursuing my degree in marine biology, I spent a summer in Quebec mashing and analyzing large chunks of whale blubber for evidence of PCBs. enamored with doing it. After completing my degree, my first foray into the world of media was to write a business manual, Innovative Practices in Human Resources. I found it neither innovative nor something I was willing to practice so I went back to school to pursue a MasterÂs in science journalism. I am currently the external affairs assistant to a national scholarly society.
