Kathryn Goodman:

CLASS OF 1987
Vernon rockville, CT

Kathryn's Story

Life Ummm... where to start? After RHS, moved to Boston, graduated Northeastern in 1992, BS in Computer Science, minor in Music. Worked for about 8 years at Teradyne, doing device drivers for AC instruments in a mixed-signal chip tester. Did some pretty cool stuff, waveform generation, language design, and a digital filter design. Left Teradyne for Dragon Systems a few years back, to do speech synthesis research. Did some really cool stuff til they got bought by scandal-ridden Lernout & Hauspie. After the CEO went to jail and the company went bust the whole economy was in a slump. My husband and I then moved to the burbs and had three kids. They all just turned 5, 3, and 1 this summer. They're all great, and it's a blast (and a challenge) being home with them. I'd like to go back to engineering part time when they're all on the bus to elementary school, but that's a long way off and things may change by then. We'll see. There's a Java class offered up the street that looks like it could be fun in the meantime. Oh yeah, got married in 98 to my husband Brad, who's a great Dad to our kids. We took our honeymoon on our boat, Hellfish, which we took around Cape Cod from Boston...Expand for more
Harbor. We've lived mostly in Boston, Back Bay, Southie, Charlestown Navy Yard, and Malden before moving too far north of Boston to a new development with good schools, lots of grass/trees, and a ton of little kids. I miss the city. As for hobbies I still enjoy writing/playing piano, and have picked up a little guitar. I never have enough time for the synths and keyboards. I used to enjoy cooking but it's more fun without the 1yo climbing into the dishwasher, the 3yo screaming he's hungry and the 5yo griping that it's not mac and cheese. And when you don't have to do it every night. Oh, and I volunteer at my kids' schools and drive them places. Doesn't leave much time for hobbies but there you go. Their train set is pretty fun to play with. ;-) Anyway that's all I have time for now. Visit my husband's website for updates and pics: His name is Brad Goodman, if you do a search it'll come up pretty easily. Or if you take a gander at what the URL would be, you'd probably be right on. The Borg, er, Classmates doesn't like URL's here so I can't post it. Hope everyone's doing well, would love to hear from people, especially since I can't make the reunion! :( Kathryn
