Kathi's Story
I have lived in Casper, Wyoming, Twin Falls, Idaho and Seaside, Oregon.. I am now back in Cambria, California in the Central Coast area and retired after working for two General Contractors on large projects at Hearst Castle and San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay High Schools.
Monte Moore, attended Kelly Walsh. I have just recently added my name as a friend of Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, Wyoming. He graduated in the Class of 1975.
Married my junior high and high school sweetheart, David Sands in March of 1971. We were married 19 years. We did have some happy times and two wonderful children. Carrie Anne who is 38 and the mother of my 18 year old grandaughter Courtney. David Brian, my son is 30 and loves to surf and is the quintessential California guy. He works at a High School in the East County area and is one of the Coaches for the Surf Team, they are very competitive I might add. We had kept in touch with many dear friends from Hoover High for many, many years. That was another sad aspect of our separating. Losing contact with dear friends.
Where has the time gone? I took care of my babies and then worked as an Instructional Aide for 5 years with the San Diego City School District. I took classes at City College in the evening during this time. I then entered the full time work force. I worked at a well known, family owned, large scale roofing contractor for 17 1/2 years in San Diego, J.P. Witherow Roofing. It was hard to leave that Company as I truly enjoyed the work I did there.

nt and did engineering work for satellite communications. One of the more well known projects he worked on was the DigitalGlobe communications satellite. Life has not been the same since his passing. We were together since 1990. I had known him since the early 80s. He was my friend first. I believe that made so much difference in our relationship. I lost him to cancer January 16, 2008.
Made a very brave decision to move to the home we bought in Wyoming on my own. We had hoped to come here together in 2009 or 2010 to live a simpler and calmer life. My mortgage is paid off and I just have to focus towards retirement now. We lived a rather frugal and financially focused life. I am trying to stay that course. I have quite a bit of landscaping to do, and it will keep me busy now that what they are calling the blizzards of 2009 are behind me.
I arrived July 28, 2008. Started a new job September 22, 2008, the ecomony slowed, got laid off in February 2009, but found another job a week later. I seem to have found a niche in the heating and air conditioning services here. Life is starting to seem better.
The deer and the antelope do roam all around me. There are only about 50,000 people, no traffic jams. I have found some peace which I desperately needed since losing my husband Monte. It is so quite and peaceful here. I am outside of the city on the open plains. There are 250 new homes in the housing tract. No sounds of traffic or sirens. I hear Meadow Larks all day now that it is Spring. I fall asleep to the sound of silence every night.
