Kathryn's Story

Life I have two beautiful daughters 40 and 36 years and 2 dogs. I am involved in Yorkshire Terrier Rescue for my volunteer work and also The Ronald McDonald House in downtown Denver where I mann the front desk.. I had flight benefits on Continental Airlines which I used to see the world. Tahiti on my 50th birthday, Sydney, Australia on my 51st birthday and Aruba twenty-five times -it is my favorite place on earth. Been to Europe twice and to Ireland to visit the "homeland"! I have seen almost all the Caribbean islands. I have nine weeks of vacation and use it for my passion--travel. I divorced after a 24 1/2 year marriage in October 1999. School I was lucky enough to be part of the Class of 67 at Westy and Ranum. I grew up in Goat Hill and attended grade school at Baker and then on to Hodgkins. I remember so many wonderful memories with people from the graduating class of Westy in '67. Sally Bryant, Lynda Hinton, Carol Hiratsuka, Kathy Williams, Diane Novak, Cindy Davis were my best friends. From the neighborhood - Josie, Sue Lindblom, Eddie Castillo, Richard Lopez, Mike Ruiz, Lorraine Giron, Barbara Trujillo, and more recently re-touched base with Dave Seubert, Linda Elwood, and Victor Marquez. We moved to Ranum's area in 1964 and that first year was really hard for me. I remember at graduation I cried so hard Denver PD who were doing off duty security came over to me and had me count backwards to make sure I was ok. I did not want...Expand for more
to leave school. I loved all the friendship, fun and the camaraderie. Being involved now in the reunion committee for about 25 years has been just a kick. We have a special group of people in the committee and we get along and act just like we are still in high school and have so many laughs sometimes my sides feel like they will split. We have some of the most wonderful classmates and I think we were fortunate to live in the time we did. Most everyone had a wonderful childhood and fond memories of our time at Ranum High! Workplace I have been in law enforcement now for 44 years. Five years at combination Commerce City PD and Adams County Communications and the other 39 years at Jefferson County SO in Golden. It has been a most rewarding life. My biggest event was being the primary Law Enforcement dispatcher for the events at Columbine High in April 1999 and the secondary dispatcher for our part in the events at Platte Canyon High in 2006. Military I joined the US Navy in July 1970 and went to boot camp in BainBridge, Maryland and then was stationed in Washington, D.C. until December 1972 where I went to Aviation Maintenance School in Millington, TN and then was stationed in Brunswick, Georgia at a Naval Air Station until I got out in July 1973. It was probably hands down the best thing for my life I ever did. It made me strong, responsible and left me with five forever great friends that I still hear from and see to this day.
