Kathy's Story

Life Funny how at 16 everything is so much more important than it is at 41... being a teenager was hard, being in high school even harder. If you remember me from high school at all, you probably remember me as being very quiet and reserved, and in at least a couple of our classmates opinions a complete snob - are you kidding me??? a snob??? If I didn't speak to you in high school it had nothing to do with being a snob and everything to do with being painfully shy. If I could redo high school, knowing then what I know now, I would have made the effort to speak my mind a bit more, not worry so much about what people might be thinking and make an effort to get to know more people on a deeper level. Well with age comes wisdom, things change and people change - I have. Now if I don't talk to you, it's totally because I'm a snob :) I have been very lucky in my life, I am very happily married to a wonderful guy, I have an amazing daughter (19 yrs), 8 beautiful nieces and nephews and have had the opportunity to travel and see many different parts of this incredible world we live in. I can honestly say there is not much in my life that I look back on with regret, that's not to say that I didn't make my share of mistakes and have at least my share of unfortunate incidences but all in all, I had a great high school experience and great friends. If there is anything I regret, it is that I didn't know enough in high school to take a chance and step outside my comfort zone and realize the sky wouldn't fall and the world wouldn't end regardless of the outcome of taking that chance. I do wish that I were better at keeping in touch with friends from high school over the years. I'm famous for u...Expand for more
sing the excuse of being busy with work, family, life in general... and when I tell someone we will keep in touch - the intention is honest... I just suck at follow up. School Things that make you go Hmmmmmmm College It is what it is... I think most people (myself included) should attend college twice - once immediately following high school and again as an adult. College right out of high school is a time to spread your wings, pretend you have your freedom without having a parent looking over your shoulder, party party party and hope you do enough work not to fail out. College as an adult allows you to appreciate the full experience. Have the life experience and knowlege to realize where you need to apply the effort and where you can slide through on what you've learned in business through the years and not take the wrapper off the book and much less pressure when you go into truly an adult and not a kid playing grown-up. Workplace Wow Work... my second home (though my husband may disagree and call it my first - the amount of time I spend there). I work a ton of hours, both in the office and from my home office but absolutely loving what I do. I work for a great company, a leader in the data storage industry. I work in sales, something I never thought I'd do, never thought I had what it takes and always thought the first "no" would be enough rejection for me to call it quits - boy was I wrong. The rush that comes from being in a sales environment never gets old and I can't imagine doing anything else. Military To all United States Service Men & Women - Past, Present, Future: THANK YOU!!!! You have my total respect and admiration. God Bless and God Speed.
