Kathy's Story
Life
Right now, I am currently in my senior year of school at the University of South Florida in Tampa. I am a double major, majoring in Mass Communications (broadcast journalism) and Political Science. I am also minoring in Business Management. I plan on attending graduate school after I graduate with my Bachelor's degree. I also plan on getting a master's degree and then a doctorate degree in both fields of study. My aspirations are to become either a TV anchor woman or either a lawyer. I have high interest in news journalism and this is something that I have always dreamed of doing. I recently got into law at the beginning of my freshman year at USF. Not only do I hope to be a lawyer, I would love to take this further and become a congress woman to lobby change in our nation. Currently, I am also working on two fictional books that I hope to have published before I graduate. I am in the final stages of these books and hope to someday have them turned into movies.
School
Hey what can I say, now that it's been almost four years since I've been out of high school, I guess now I can go down memory lane. My days at Osceola High School was great, and I wouldn't really change anything about it. Not to sound corny, but my high school years were some of the most fun days of my life.
There were two people that I considered my best friends in high school and that was Nadia Cohen and Rachael HiSmith. During my 10th and 11th grade years I hanged out with Nadia a lot more than I did with Rachael. Nadia was fun to be around and we would always find ourselves something to get into. I would always tell her my secrets that I couldn't tell anyone else. She was one of those people that could always figure me out without me having to say a word. Unfortuantely, we lost contact after 2002. It's just something that happens when people go to college in different cities and are doing thier own thing. John Middle school. Rachael was the only other person that knows everything there is to know about me. She knows about the guys I dated in high school, the guys that I had major crushes on, to every other detail there is to know about me. We still keep in contact on a weekly basis and hang out whenever I come home to visit.
College
Oh my goodness, my first semester of college, I attended Florida A&M University! All I can say about that school is what was I thinking. I totally hated that school and would never reccommend that college to anyone! It was just terrible and I had to leave. The next semester, I enrolled at the University of South Florida and I just loved that school. I like this school alot because it was culturally diverse and it was just a school that seemed to be tailored to me.
I can say these 3.5 years at this school have been very hectic, but I wouldn't change anything about it. I have been through the freshman 15 (still getting in shape from those nights where I stayed up all night studying or doing papers. However, I also got that freshman 15 from going out to the club 'til 4 in the morning and then going out to eat at that time with my friends.), sorority drama, to all nighters. Just recently, for my final exam, I had to write a 30 page paper on the impact that the mass media has on society. Being the person that I am, I always do everything at the last minute. I was up all day and all night for two days straight writing this paper. Lucky for me that I am an excellent writer, I got an A on this paper.
All throughout college I can say that I am doing very well academically. I have worked very hard to get a 3.7 GPA. It has taken a lot of stress and staying up late, but I feel that it is worth it.
One of the things that I really enjoy about my school is the parties. I am not a hard partier, but when I go out, I do like to have fun. I have been to numerous fraternity and sorority parties and have had a blast. I also love Ybor City here in Tampa, it is always fun to go out here.
