I went to CMU in 1959 to be an English teacher. Dropped out and worked for Dow where I was trained to be a computer programmer. Dow Corning hired me to computerize their payroll system. In 1967 I met Gary Jones, a Dow salesman working in NYC. We got married Christmas day 1967 and I became an instant mother to Christopher age 6 and Steven age 4. Daughter Julie was born 2 years later. (Parenting is the most difficult job I have ever had!) In 1979 we were offered an opportunity to move to Hong Kong, China with Dow. I fell in love with Hong Kong and all things Chinese - the people, the cooking, the history and traditions. This was an exciting, life-changing experience. Returned to Midland in 1982. Then I taught elementary art at St Brigid's Catholic School for 9 years. I returned to CMU when I discovered I only needed 3 classes for my BS degree.
