After high school, I attended and graduated from Utah State 1988 with a BS in Elecgtrical Engineering, with an emphasis in computer graphics. I was a good student and still managed to have fun on the weekends. I worked at HP from 1988-2000, first as a design engineer of graphics subsystems as part of the Workstation group (they used to be a separate box, then they shrunk down to a card, and now they are on a chip!). Quickly realizing that I liked interfacing with people more than computers (duh!), I took odd jobs in the lab like competitive analysis (loved giving presentations to management) and EDA design tools (basically shopping while being wined and dined by companies like Mentor Graphics and Cadence). Thanks to some good timing and a random inquiry, I ended up on the dark side (marketing). I started off knowing nothing about market development, but was surrounded by peers and sales reps who were willing to take me under their wing.
