Katherine's Story
Early Life
I loved my childhood in Littleton, NH, where we lived until I finished seventh grade. Even though I liked my friends at Oxbow HS in Vermont, I always kind of wished I had ended up staying with my class in Littleton and graduated with them. There were many there that I still remember and appreciated.
High School
We then moved to Vermont and I attended Oxbow, but those years were tinged with sadness after I lost my dad Harold Kyte to cancer in the 1st year and my older sister, Peggy, died in a motorcycle accident in year 5. However it was through these events and in this place where I first came to know Jesus Christ as my friend, Savior and Lord, and so I am ultimately thankful, in spite of the obvious tragedy. He has changed - and continues to change my life so much, I believe, for the better! He is my best and most beloved and trusted friend.
College
Then college at the U of VT with a degree in Human Development & Family Living. This was followed by a career with Campus Crusade for Christ for 9 years, and then on to other adventures.
I've been back in New England now since1995, after having spent a total of 16 years, living in Ohio, Minnesota, Africa & Russia in CCC and various other ministry & secular work situations. I've had the privilege of having visited or lived for a time in 21 countries so far.
These Days
I love being back "home" in New England [even though it IS Massachusetts] and I love my current work at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary as Director of Field Education and Placement. (I help students find internships in churches and o...Expand for more
ther ministries, as well as jobs.) I received an M.A. in Counseling in 1999 and received a Doctorate in Ministry in 2012. In 2004 I had the privilege of inviting my mother, Bernice, to come to live with me and I took care of her for 6 years before she died of Alzheimer's in April 2010. You can see what she looked like more recently in one of our uploaded wedding photos. She shined in her gold dress.
Finally Marriage: Mrs. Mark Horvath
I was married for the first time on August 23, 2008 to Mark Christopher Horvath (also married for the first time) three months short of my 50th birthday. He is originally from CT and we met at work. He's Senior Safety Officer at the seminary. We both thank God for this special gift of love and marriage at a time later than most people wed.
I enjoy my husband, friends, cats, work, church family, and extended family and am thankful for all God gives, even when some things are hard to see as gifts at first...
For those of you who may remember my brother, Ralph, he has been married since 1979 to the lovely Sevim, from Turkey. They have three grown children and have lived in the Detroit area since he graduated from college in the 80's and went to work for Ford as an engineer. By God's grace he's survived all of he layoffs in the auto industry so far.
I still love to dance, hike, bird watch, and do drama and readings. Right now I am enjoying ministering to and teaching women in a local prison on the side. - And the hereditary Kyte sense of humor is continuing to help to add a splash of spice to life.
Now tell me about you! :-)
