Kathy's Story
Left home two weeks after graduation heading south, and wandered around for several months. Came back, married high school boyfriend (didn't last, no kids). From 1977 to 1983 I worked (at the NATC) and went to college, ended up with two degrees (math, engineering), and then worked for a while in the D.C. area.
In spring 1984 I headed west, ended up in the Los Angeles area and have been here ever since. Married again in 1986, no kids and had no plans for any. Then in 1999, through deaths in the family, we became the parents of our (then) niece who is now 15 years old.
My husband & I started an engineering business in 1995 - it is now three separate companies with about 55 employees altogether. I am now mostly retired ...Expand for more
from engineering. I spend my time training working dogs, my own and other's dogs - started out as a hobby 15 years ago; being a "basketball mom" and coaching local high school cross-country teams.
Dave & I have always traveled a lot - backpacking in out-of-the-way places, windsurfing in Mexico, bicycling all over Europe and competing in or judging working dog trials all over the USA, Europe and Canada. The only place I have wanted to go but missed so far is New Zealand - really want to make it there someday.
Unfortunately, I don't make it back to St. Mary's County too much anymore because my parents have both passed away and my sisters both moved away from the area. But I always love to keep in touch with old friends.
