Kathy Still-jimenez:

CLASS OF 1967
Lakeland, FL

Kathy's Story

I studied fashion marketing & design after high school & in later years became protege to a top American fashion designer (Roger Burke, best known for creating the popular "granny dress" of our era.) At the time I had married & was living in NC in the small town I was born in when Roger "discovered" me at a lecture he was giving. Those were fun times traveling across the country, however, married & raising a family wasn't the best blend with travel so I left the exciting world of fashion for awhile, made a career turn & went into real estate. Some time later I found myself divorced & in the middle of a recession with mortgage rates at 18 - 21%, which killed the real estate industry so I discovered a new part-time career with Mary Kay Cosmetics which turned into a full fledged career. I have been in this business since the 80's & have found it to be extremely fulfilling & incredibly fun. I am presently a Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay, driving a free MK car, & mentoring approximately 200 women in my organization. After quite a few years of the single life, I did marry again in 1995 & enjoy a wonderful life with my sweetheart of a husband, Mic...Expand for more
hael Jimenez. Michael was born in Costa Rica & grew up in NYC later becoming a professional musician, which is a far cry from my southern roots! We make a great blend, however, & we are happy to be living back in Lakeland once again, having returned to care for my elderly father is last 2 years of life. Our only "children" together are our two Shih Tzu pups, however, I have two great kids - a son, Brandon, who has twin daughters Alena & Keira, 4 years of age. Blakely, my daughter, is the younger of my two children, & she has 3 children, Tianna, 13, Taylor, 11, & Braeden, 7. It's a good life & I find there is always something to be happy about! I wasn't able to attend the 40th class reunion, however, I would love to connect with old friends. I am still good friends with Donnie Godbold Mills after all these years & still see a few former classmates from time to time like Sandi Ridpath Bennett & Beverly King Henrich. Sister MK Director Bette Lord Hillman & I usually run into one another at Mary Kay events, too, however, having lived out of state for several years meant lost connections, unfortunately. Hope to see or hear from more of you soon!
