Kathy's Story
Clifton (class of 66) and I were married on May 11, 1968 at Knott's Berry Farm. We will be Married 50 years on May 11th this year. And have known each other 55 years, "WOW" We met when I was 13 and he was 16, I fell in love with his 57 Chevy driving down Bannock Rd. And knew I could fit my surf board on his car and no longer have to hitch hike to the beach. We have 3 Children and 4 Grandchildren. The sadness day in our life was in 2002 we lost our middle son to Suicide, without warning. He was loving, kind and the best son a parent could ask for. Depression I have learned is awful to deal with, and our son never let anyone know he suffered from it. So now I speak to High School Students about depression and let them know there is help. nd young adult men keep it inside for fear they will be judged. With the help of God we have survived the loss of our son. We are truly blessed and grateful for all the love and support we have received from so many people in our life. My best friend JoAnne McElroy & Phil McElroy (class of 68) have been our life rope, As has my BFF Carolyn Kilpatrick Russell, I have no idea what I would have done without her in my life I love her dearly we are so blessed to have them in our life. These days I no longer watch my 4 grandchildren, it was the best employment I have ever had. Of course the homework is another story, we never had homework like these children get. My Grandchildren are now Chloe 25, Corbin 18, Connor 16 and Isabella 12 They are my heart and soul life line.
