Kathy's Story
I went to & graduated with a BSinEd from SMS (OK, Missouri State) with a double major (Math Ed. and Office Administration) in 3.5 years. Met my future husband my first semester & married 6/13/81, 6 months after I graduated from college. Lived in St. Louis after marraige (OK, before marraige too). Began teaching almost immediately - high school Math. Also did secretarial work during summers and/or when I got burnt out from teaching. Moved to Houston, TX, due to husband's job transfer. Did secretarial work there until I started missing the classroom, then taught in an all-girl private high school (that was interesting), until a year after my first child was born (he will be 21 in June - 3r...Expand for more
d year at Kansas State - architecture major), then was a stay-at-home mom for a few years, during which time we moved back to the St. Louis area (O'Fallon, MO), and I taught piano lessons and tutored math from my house, and had our 2nd child (she is 18 - senior in high school). When she was in 4th grade, I returned to teaching Math at the community college there in St. Charles, MO. Then, in the summer of 2005, my husband was transferred to Omaha, Nebraska; and I am now teaching Math and running the Math Center at Metropolitan Community College. My husband and I have been married almost 27 years now & I can't say it was all wonderful times, but we love each other & will be together forever.
