Kathy's Story
Life is good - most of the time anyway! I've been an RN since '84 (in OB since '85), moved to southwest FL in '88, divorced soon after. I have 2 sons, 22 and 20, and they're great kids. One is taking the scenic route through life, but he's smart and he'll figure out a path sooner or later, and the other (along w/his girlfriend) has a "10 year plan" which, according to them, will make me a grandma in about 8 more years... haha! The kids and my sister are local.
I've love being a nurse. I'm caught in the middle at grunt level management, and am now back in school to finish a fast-track BSN program and plan to go on for an MSN and/or DNP and become a nurse practitioner. Sometimes change is good, and now is one of those times for me.

re both gone now. Until you've lost them, you have no concept of what a gaping hole there is in your life if you were close to them at all. The good part is that they live on in little ways every day; some that even take you by surprise, but that's a good thing.
So there you have it. Work, school, offspring - that takes up plenty of time. Once in awhile margaritas or wine give me a nice reprieve, which makes me think I can also be a plumber (there's a story!) or some other handywoman thing, but God made me a nurse for a reason, and I think part of it was to keep me away from things that I can royally screw up like plumbing... lol!! I'll just stick to being an oldnightnurse and the seventh letter of the alphabet is where I find my cards and mail!
