Katie's Story
The task of summing up the last 20 years of my life in as few entertaining lines as possible poses a challenge.. but here it goes.. since leaving highschool 20 years ago and heading to college, graduating as quickly as possible (which still wasnt that fast) and packing my bags to see a different world... I travelled through Europe for an extended period of time, experienced 13 countries/cultures, met many, many interesting people along the way, saw 1000+ cathedrals, ate cheese, drank wine and slept in doggy hostels, after all of which I came back an inspired person. (Its amazing what happens to your soul/mind/spirit/ when you leave your homeland and comfort zone). I returned to the US and moved to San Francisco, went to grad school in Fashion Design and then went to work for a major apparel company in S.F....(it was a Devil Wears Prada experience but definitely worth it). end in 1999 (on a beach in Cabo San Lucas.. it was legal) and two years later we had our first son, Taylor. Soon after my husband was offered a job as a director of a company in Spain and the longing for adventure and the return to Europe won us over. We moved to Barcelona in 2002 and in 2003 our second son, Payton was born (yes he has a Spanish/EU passport.. lucky boy!). We have been eating jamon and pan for the last 5 years, enjoying the international group of friends we have made and taking advantge of our close proximity to other countries in Europe.
So the big question remains; How long will we live in Barcelona and whats our next phase in life??? Well we like to believe our life story is really just beginning. For the moment we feel very blessed to be raising our sons abroad, bilingual and in a Mediterranean culture. We arent sure how long we will be here but we are thinking - long term.
