Katy's Story
So many familiar names! I haven't made it to more than one reunion, and that was the 10th, so lots of time has lapsed. My dad was critically ill at the same time as the 20th year reunion, so I couldn't make it then, and since then my life has really been a challenge.
I went to Boulder for my 1st two years of college, majoring in Art History. I transferred to an American College in Switzerland in 77. That was amazing. I saw lots of great museums and met some wonderful international students. Met a Texan who followed me back to the Rocky Mountains. His family had been in North Africa drilling for oil, but they moved back to the states in 78 and we got married and lived on the Texas Gulf Coast near Houston until the drilling failed.
We spent the next 10 years in Colorado, near Evergreen. I really liked it there. My oldest daughter went to school with the kids who were in the graduating class at Columbine, but we had moved to Montana by then. One of the boys in her class of gifted kids at Governor's Ranch Elementary in Littleton was Dillon. I was on the school board at the time here in Montana, and it was very traumatic. rved as an intelligence analyst in the Marine Corps and turned down a job offer at the Pentagon to finish his degree in political science at the University of Texas in Austin. He says he's running for President in 2036. Max Majors is his name, if you want to watch for him!
My oldest went back last summer to start a doctoral program in Linguistics. She speaks French and Japanese, and has been working as a graphic designer for the main newspaper in Missoula. Now she's getting married in the Spring!
The third oldest is a singer and songwriter. She's in her junior year at the U of M. You can check out her myspace and hear her music - Haeli Majors.
Then I have 3 still at home. The youngest was 8 months old when my husband left us for the fast life in California. It's been a struggle, but it looks like we're making it. I went back and finished my BA in 2006 and now I'm an art dealer and I work for an investment firm, studying for my securities license.
Montana is beautiful. The people are marvelous. It's like Colorado was in the 60's. Deer and pheasants, hiking trails, fishing and camping minutes from home. Skiing is great, too! We still have men's and women's bathrooms, though.
My best friend in Aurora dated your Governor's brother. I need to have a talk with that Bill Boy!
