Kay's Story
Boy, time sure passes fast -- here it is 2009!!! What have I done in the last kazillion years? Lets see...
After graduation I attended NLU in Monroe & roomed with Nancy Ourso and Gwen Hays. Got married in Jan of 1967 to Mike Shockley, worked and attended school until Mike and I moved to Kodiak, Alaska. We made friends, worked, learned to do things the "Alaska way" and had two kids. In 1979 we moved to Seattle, Wa area and continued to make friends, work and raise kids. After a divorce in 1991, I moved back to Leesville in 1993 to care for my mother. She had multiple health problems and needed someone close by. In Leesville, (thanks to James Armes) I met Bill Billingsley, who was the airport manager of the Leesville Airport. We "courted" and married in 1994 and lived in Leesville until 2003. We had visited my brother Richard up in Wasilla, AK and really liked the area. So off we go on a "senior adventure" !! We have been here since August of 2003 and since then have enjoyed what Alaska has to offer. Bill does a LOT of flying airplanes, fishing and hunting. I enjoy being around family and watching Rich's family grow. He had 13 grandchildren!!! Bill and I break up the cold "blues" by going to Hawaii every year. So here I am, 60 years old and the past years can be condensed into a few lines --short, but sweet!!
