Kay's Story
After almost 10 years, I thought I would update my profile. Life has, for the most part, been good to me. My husband Randy retired from Delta in 2020, Although we still have travel benefits through Delta and can fly to anywhere in the world, the only place we really ever go is to MN for family events. I have gotten into house/dog sitting which keeps me busy. It started with one person who needed a house/dog sitter, and just by word of mouth I have become "in demand." I love animals, so it is a perfect retirement job for me. I have wonderful clients who have wonderful dogs. But I do miss my two cats when I am away from home for extended periods.
I lost both of my parents within four months of each other (Nov 2018 and Mar 2019), lost my sister Pat (Brady Class of '72) in Aug 2020, and the middle of my five brothers (Mark) less than a week ago (Jan 15, 2022). I now have one sister and four brothers where I had two sisters and five brothers, but the remainder of us are closer than ever.
Randy and I bought a little cabin in the Village of Mendota a few years ago and frequently travel back and forth from Phoenix, but we don't have to stay with relatives anymore when we do. We recently attended the Class of '71 Reunion at Mendakota Country Club (Sept '21), and it was great to see and catch up on the lives of so many old friends, but there were many who did not attend that I would love to have seen. It is devastating to lose friends and family, which we all know is part of life, but it was shocking to learn that approximately 30 of our classmates have passed, many of which I would never expect to have died so young, A small group of us discussed how much the world has drastically changed since our carefree high school days. We agreed that we are so blessed to have known simpler times growing up surrounded by fields, woods, creeks, ponds and lakes where we could endlessly entertain o...Expand for more
urselves; organize and play outdoor games; ride our bikes for miles and stay out all day and no one worried about us; enjoy wide-open spaces and clean air, and no one ever locked their doors. We had landlines to actually call people, not text them -- we were not slaves to technology. We knew everyone in our neighborhood. If we cussed, we'd get our mouths washed out with soap. And we attended church every Sunday with our family. Those days are long gone, but we still have those wonderful memories.
Nowadays, the main things to be thankful for are family, friends and our health. To that end, I hope those who read this are happy and healthy, and I would love to hear how you are doing and what you've been up to, so feel free to leave me a message any time. Happy New Year and may God bless you!

Previous Profile:
Life
Worked as a legal sec'y in St. Paul from '72 to '83 when I moved to AZ where I continued working as a legal secretary until retiring in 2013. Lived briefly in TX and CA, but decided that the desert is where I belong. Lost my first husband in 2005 to brain cancer. Remarried in '2012 and gained 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Hubby works 3 days a week for Delta Airlines in Mpls. and commutes back and forth. I get back to MN frequently to visit my 7 siblings and their kids, and they often visit me in AZ because our folks now live here permanently after many years of snowbirding. When in town, I still like to get together with some of my fellow Broncos, It is not uncommon to find us at Gallagher's in WSP when Sandy & The Hitmen (Chris Hinding and his wife Sandy's band) are playing there. They draw a good crowd with their rendition of the classic rock songs we all loved and danced to back in the day, and their contagious energy still gets us on the dance floor today. I have many great memories of my high school years, and am proud to be a Brady graduate.
