Kaye's Story
Life
I'm currently the primary special education teacher at a Title I school in Albuquerque, NM. I just bought a house out in the sticks where my youngest child (the only one still at home) can have a horse. We have two dogs, three cats, two rabbits and some egg laying chickens. And I'm a mean mom because I won't let her have all the animals she wants!! :) My house is a 100 year old adobe that has been completely restored, and it's small, but cozy. My oldest daughter, Katie, is married to a police officer. They have a 3 year old son, Ethan, another baby boy they are in the process of adopting, Gabriel, and a third child (another biological) on the way. My son Jonathan is married and lives in SD where he is in charge of loss prevention for a store chain. gia. My youngest, Karissa, is 14. She has an autism spectrum disorder which is what sent me into the field of special education. She is a wonderful blessing to my life and I homeschool her. Life can change a lot in a year. I have just survived the hardest year of my life. My husband, who is a Gulf War and September 11th veteran, left me for reasons I will never understand. He's going through mental and emotional issues I cannot comprehend. My oldest daughter lost the children she was attempting to adopt. They went to another couple whose race was "more acceptable". And I fought a fight with the same kind of cancer that took my mom, but so far I have come out on top. I have learned that you can have it all, and you can also lose it all, but what really matters is that God is still in control. I believe that with all of my heart.
