Keith's Story
Life
I graduated in 1981 from Meridian High school. I joined the Army in 1984. I signed up for electronics and Germany. Spent 2 Years in Germany at a remote relay station on a ski resort. Then transffered to Fort Hood, Texas for another 3 1/2 years in the telecommunications field. I got out in 1990 at my families request and moved back to Boise. Long story.
I missed the military so I joined the Air National guard in 1991, again in the electronics field, doing avionics on fighters. I ended up getting hired as a state technician, until a change in the aircraft assigned to Gowen field caused my shop to be disolved. So I went to work for the local avionics shops for 1 1/2 years. I really enjoyed that work and stayed on with the Guard as a jet engine mechanic.
In 1997 I got a call from the ...Expand for more
Guard. They wanted to know if I would be interested in work full time on the training Range in Mountain Home. I applied and got the job, as a radar technician, on an AGR status. Which means I am full time Military, but I belong to the State.
I have a littel over 3 years left to retire. I think I will go back to avionics then.
I have had 5 career fields changes, going where ever they needed me, and starting over each time I changed. I have been to 8 countries and 30 some states now.
I really enjoy learning how something works, and my hobbies show it. I am still a gearhead and enjoy building cars. I also like ceramics, stainglass, airbrushing, pinstripping, woodworking, and electronics.
I have 2 sons, and 2 exwives. I am still in Idaho, now Nampa, but I commute to Mountain Home everyday.
