Kelle's Story

Life Raised in Mexico until I arrived Dallas in '66 where attended I started as a junior at Bishop Dunne HS. Attended ETSU then moved to San Francisco Bay Area. I married my sweetheart in 1983 and have had a marvelous, exciting, loving journey with him and his two children, who became my children. Every year, I went to Baja several times and lived on a deserted island for a month . . . it was my refuge, my haven! I lived on the water i carried and the fish I was able to catch. I know that younger people can survive 9 days without water and 20 days without food, because I did it . . . not by choice, but it's not as scary as it sounds. the 1st 10 years of my "career" I was in construction and restaurant building, and remodeling houses, then moved on to management consulting mostly with scientists and engineers and their bosses, mostly out of the U.S. After 20 years of that, I changed directions, and moved to Asheville, Western NC in 2001 AND LOVE IT! i moved into real estate investing and remodeling houses, sell songs to various groups and singers, and am a published author and writer. I am currently working on a non-fiction book about heroism ...Expand for more
(and am collecting stories about heroic moments, actions) and I'm also writing my first fiction piece, a novel about a family in Texas in the early 1950's. I'm having a great time! I continue to enjoy writing articles for magazines and other publications. Today, I have slowed down a little, no longer do survival trips, don't travel all over the world on business anymore. I like staying home now and enjoying my surroundings and my sweetheart. I mostly travel to visit friends and some of the places and countries I still have a fondness for. My only regret is that some of the friends I made in high school and at ETSU whom I lost touch with. Regardless, they still hold a place in my heart, and likely will 'til the day I leave the earth on the last great adventure. For my 60th (in 2010!), my love is taking me to Europe and we are going to tour for two months on a motorcycle! What could be better than that! All in all, I have only gratefulness for the life I've been given, for my family, my friends, for the meaningful memories, and for the gift of still being able to put one step in front of the other. I still can't spell worth a darn!
