Kelley's Story

My Life My name is Kelley Drake, I am now 40yrs old Going on 30. I have a 22yr old 16yr old and a 15yr old. I have two gorgeous grandbabies. Maddie is 3 and Haden is 2. I'm living in South Tulsa, but would love to move out of tulsa, somewhere like Sand Springs, BA, Bixby, Glenpool. I'm divorced, but am not single. I've been in a long term relationship for 11yrs with Bob. We are not married and I am not sure if I ever want to remarry again. My first marriage was pure hell. So I figure since things are great the way they are why fix something that isn't broken. That is just my opinion. I may be 40 and a "nanny", no way do they call me granny..LOL. But I feel no different than I did in high school. I thought by the time I was 40 I would be this straight laced, do nothing wrong type of person. OH BULL...LOL I still play my heavy metal loud, I tell bob if it is too loud than your too old. JK! I enjoy going to the casino just to get away for awhile. Only problem is, it is never for a little while. Time goes by so fast when your there. Bob and I do really good when it comes to winning. I should re-phrase that. We both do great winning, But he is the smart one and cashes out, Me on the other, I get up to 400.00 and do I cash out??? Nope. DUH! Now that is only when he is not with me. He keeps me in line. Have to admit, When I met Bob I was 4 months away from my divorce being finalized. The divorce lasted a year and a half. (long story) The ex hooked up with the girl he was having an affair with right away, ended up having a baby together, but now they are no long together. I on the other hand, took my time, figured when it was time to meet someone it would happen, and it did. I waited a year to get serious with anyone. Divorce was painful and I was not ready for a relationship. Once Bob and I met things were great. Too great actually. I kept waiting for that other shoe to drop, the abuse, the drinking, fighting, etc. Unfortunatley that was what I was use to. But no shoe dropped. no fights. He works daily, on days off he can't stand to be doing nothing. He is a carpenter/painter/jack of all trades. Which is nice, he can usually fix a lot of things around the the house w/o having to call out a plumber, etc. He has had the same job for about 10yrs now and I swear on my life he has only missed work 3 days when he has been sick and maybe 5 days due to me having two separate surgeries. Aside from that he works his butt off...full time job and part tme job cleaning this law office that he and his company happened to do a remodel on and he overheard the ladies in the office complaining about the cleaning crew, well my "witty" Bob said, "I'll do it" and I'll be darned if they didn't take him seriously. So he does that job 3 days a week for the past 5yrs. Believe me, it definitley helps with the finances' since I am not able to work anymore. Long story there too. Oh well, i guess that is my current life in a nut shell. I could write a book if I had time, there is so much more that has gone on in my life that would make jaws drop. Way too personal for these sites. Anyways, it's great seeing all the names of the people I went to school with. Many may not remember me. I wasn't a jock, or a prep, no offense to anyone. as I a freak or loner. I had a lot of friends, was going out with my 1st love. Spent every morning, lunch and after school or when i could sneak out over at the smoke hole. LMAO! God, i wish I had never ever started smoking. GOD! 5.10 a pack at QT. I hung out with the "stoners", but did not smoke that wacky tobacky..lol. but yet, didn't judge the ones that did. My best friend was Terri Vankelsbeek, good friends with her step sisters, Pam and Paula Meyer's. There are times I wish I could go back to those days. Didn't have a care in the world. No bills to worry about. I had a job at KFC, but the money I made was mine, which was cool cause I could save it up for what I wanted. My parents were so cool...threw me a 16th b-day party..everyone hung out in the backyard. Not even going to say what people were doing. LOL Mom made the best Rotel and Chocolate Chip Cookies. I remember I got my first stereo, a car would have been nice, but hey, we weren't rich so a stereo was cool. Carrie Martin bought me the Madonna Cassette, "like a virgin". But like I said, to be young again and not have all these responsibilities. just worry who i was going to hang out with after school if I wasn't working, which was always Terri, it was one of those unspoken things I guess. If i wasn't with her i was with my b-friend Jay. I wll say this one last statement and will finish up. About a month ago I had Maddie my 2yr old grandaugther, we were on an elevator and this older woman kept trying to talk to Maddie, well Maddie is very shy around strangers, but this lady had a good heart and Maddie could tell and warmed up to her. We got off the elevator and the lady asked me how old my daughter was and I told her, "oh, this isn't my daughter, she is my grandaughter". I am sure some of you know when people are just trying to flatter you or whatever, but I swear to god this woman did not believe me for 1 second that she wasn't my daugther, then when I told her I had a 1yr old grandson her jaw about hit the floor. No way was she acting. Anyways, my point is, it made me feel really good to know that some people still see me as if I am in my early 30's She swore I could not have been a day over 32. LMAO! God I wish. It just made my day, considering I was having a VERY bad day that day. I guess I am blessed, My mother is 62 and honestly she looks like she is in her early 50's. She has aged gracefully. I just hope and pray the same happens to me. So anyways, this is how life has been since way back in the 80's. Still shocked that we don't have flying cars like on the Jetson's. LOL But i am happy with the technology we have, IPOD's. Laptops, Desktops, Cell pones, god the list goes on and on. Im doing my best to save up money right now, it's almost time for me to be able to upgrade my cell phone wth T-mobile, and I always get a really big discount if not a free phone, depending on how long it has been since my last upgrade. But I got my eye on a Black berry or one of those phones where you turn it and a little keyboard comes out. We shall see. Anyways, I'm off of here to get to coloring my hair, even though I may look somewhat young those gray hairs still like to show themselves. UGH! LOL Hope all is well with everyone! Take care, Kelley Drake
