Life Post high school I went to ASU for 2 years, studying music therapy then took a year off and drove around the US visiting friends and family. My parents divorced that year. Attended Willamette University for 2 more years and graduated with a bachelor's in Music Therapy in 1980. Did my music therapy internship in Athens, Georgia and decided I wanted to be a teacher. Took more classes to get my certificate and got my first teaching job in Puerto Cortes, Honduras in Central America in 1982. It was a missionary job with the Episcopal Church. It was one of the more fascinating things I have done. I wish I had studied the vosotros conjugations in Spanish class. They use them! Came back home in 1984 to live with mom because she had lung cancer. I was privileged to be with her for 6 more months until she died (January 1985). Got a job in South Phoenix teaching bilingual Kindergarten and loved it. Met my husband in 1986 on a blind date! He had also been to Central America. He is a commercial real estate appraiser, that is, he goes around telling people how much their land and buildings are worth, using two or three formula...Expand for more
