Kelli's Story

Life Too much stuff has happened to me over the years, and a lot of stuff that I kept as a good secret during our High School years. I got a cat about 2 years after our family dog (Blackie) was put to sleep due to an old hip injury. I got Tweety (my cat) back in 1993, and then 2 years or so later my brother with his stray cat, moved back into my parents house. He tried to take his cat with him once he moved out for the umpteenth time, but ended up with a siren in his apartment and so his cat (Rascals) is now Tweety's adopted sister. Both cats are female and Tweety is older than Rascals by 1 year. They are such a unique mixture of colors, but the Vet considers them as calico. Yes, they are both TRUE to their names. Anyway, I was so lost the day after Graduation that I broke down and cried for hours after Nick Zoga and myself went to a few places to tell people about Lisa McHenry's passing. Last I know of the McHenry's is that they are doing well and that they are taking life everyday and one day at a time. I haven't been able to get a hold of them since about a year before or after I got married. Well, I tried going to college and each time ended up in the hospital. I've had 3 Kidney Transplants and now trying for #4. I got married in 2001 on July 14 to a GREAT guy and it's partly Devon Bartholomew's fault. (Devon Graduated in 1997 from Exeter) She got me talking to him on the internet first, and then we met in person about 2 weeks or so before my birthday in 1998. We started going out around Nov. 6, 1998 or sometime around then. I just remember that it was a few days after my birthday. Then again, any day after Nov. 1 is a few days after my birthday. My husband (Aaron) at that time was at Kutztown University in his Senior year for his B.S. in Education, which he got in May 1999. There were a few Alumni from Exeter that graduated with Aaron, but the only name that pops in my head right now is Hope Emerson. She graduated either a year or 2 before we did, I can't remember right n...Expand for more
ow. Aaron finally got a Teaching job down here in Maryland in Aug. 2000. He proposed to me near Christmas in 2000 and I said yes, but I guess no one from high school would ever imagine me ever giving an answer like I did. (I will have to look up our engagement story that I posted online back in 2000 or 2001. I was being silly and so was Aaron, so you have to read it as being silly goofballs just loving each other and playing along with the other roles that come up.) I got my 3rd Kidney Transplant on July 20, 2002. Not a bad belated 1st year Anniversary gift. That transplant was doing good until the end of 2003 came around. See, my Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer on June 19, 2003 (Aaron's 26th b-day). Mom was in and out of the hospital so much that I hardly saw her. She came home from the hospital the day before Thanksgiving, but only lived until Dec. 7, 2003. I was really stressed out and I got sick REALLY BAD!! From about Feb. 10, 2004 until the Day before Thanksgiving in 2004, I was stuck in University of Maryland Hospital and Specialty Hospital with SEVERE pneumonia and was drugged out cold and on life support. The doctors had to take me off all of my Anti-rejection medications in order to help my body fight back, so needless to say I lost the 3rd Transplant not because of normal rejection, but because it was a life or death situation and they of course chose me over the transplanted Kidney. So now I'm at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, at both campuses to see various doctors. They suggested a living donor this time, and so far only my husband has come forward to see if he could donate. The living donors surgery is now laposcopic which means less healing time and pain for the donor. JHU is really doing some new things that even I don't understand. If you would like info about donating or even just to read up on their new procedures, just e-mail me and I will give you the info.
